Hot Hot Heat

There once was a band from Victoria, B.C. known as "Hot Hot Heat". They were/are amazing, it depends on who you ask. To some it's the current singer/song structure of Steve Bays, to others, it was the screaming-Matthew Marnik era. Listen to the 2 mp3's below - the first is a sound the current Hot Hot Heat themselves have entirely disowned, and even now seem embarrassed of. Then listen to the second, and take in consideration that the new sound got:

this band fame; now playing sold-out shows (even if some are local-sketchy Vancouver Island cities/towns)



So is making mainstream pop music selling out or is it sometimes better? I honestly don't know.
